It was different to get to celebrate Jason's birthday at home, since the last two years we have been out of the state for his birthday, due the my ASHA conference we have been attending for 3 years now. Two years ago Jason was in Chicago for his birthday, where he got to decide what we did and he chose to go out to Ruth Chris' for an incredibly fancy dinner and the best tasting steak! Last year Jason was in New Orleans for his birthday, which is a party town anyways that celebrating his birthday was easy out there! Now we are back to having his birthday at home, which meant that I got to come up with a theme again. Every year for Jason's birthday, when we weren't traveling, I would come up with a theme to make his birthday that mouch more special. One year we had watched some of the episodes of the show "24," so for Jason's birthday that year he had 24 presents for the whole day, and he had to wait every hour to receive a new one.
This year I was thinking of all the different themes I could do, and I couldn't help but be inspired by one of our favorite rides from Disneyland, Pirates of the Caribbean. This meant Jason was going on a Treasure Hunt. He started off the day with me bouncing on the bed so excited and waiting for him to wake up. I hope he was okay with me waking him up early, but to me his birthday is more exciting than Christmas. Once he became conscious he was given a note explaining how his presents had been hidden this year, and he was given little treasure boxes that gave him clues where they were hidden. I don't think I was really mean about where I hid some of the presents, such as the trunk of the car, under the bed, and in the shower (the presents didn't get wet). While Jason was following his clues I was resisting giving him extra clues and made him a nice hot breakfast. It is always hard to have your birthday on a weekday, especially when you are like Jason and I where we work full-time and are busy throughout the week, but we celebrated as much as we could. I hid a secret love note in Jason's jacket and surprised him with a lunch, and Jason's work is always sweet and celebrates everyone's birthday with cake. Every year Jason gets to decide what he wants to do for dinner on his bday, and this year he wanted to go do the "All you can eat Sushi" meal. Let's just say that by the end, I thought we were going to explode of rice and yellowtail. I hope Jason had a fantastic birthday and I just want to let him know how much I love him. Jason, you are the man that I grew up dreaming and wishing for to hold my hand and be by my side forever. You have grown up to be a man that I am so proud of and love to be around every second of every day. I often get asked why Jason and I love to travel so much, and my answer is because Jason and I hate to be apart when we are at work, so traveling is out time when we get to be together 24/7, which is all we want. I love the fact that I am always finding out new information about Jason, and we are constantly coming up with inside jokes. I love that fact that I can get Jason to blush, and that I will never win in a tickle war with him. He is the greatest man I know and someday he will make the most amazing father. I love you, sweetheart!
